Emmanuel (Manolis) Tzanakakis is an Associate Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Tufts University. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and did his post-doctoral training at the Stem Cell Institute of the University of Minnesota and at the Diabetes Center of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His laboratory’s research interests are in the area of stem cell engineering, particularly for diabetes and heart disease applications. A major focus is on the engineering and optimization of bioprocesses for the scalable expansion and efficient differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells toward functional cells for regenerative medicine.
